Partnering with SINTEF Energy Research, we conveyed the MegaRoller project's complexity and importance using text, images, and videos. John-Ivar, our communications advisor and content specialist, traveled across Europe to capture content, from Finnish industry insights to technology demonstrations in Portugal, making research accessible and engaging.

Target Audiences

Effective communication was at the heart of the MegaRoller project, an initiative that combined cutting-edge technology with extensive research. It was crucial to not only convey the message but also ensure it reached and resonated with the right audiences.

Our target groups included:

  • Decision Makers: MegaRoller board, politicians, industry partners, and the European Commission.
  • Industry and Academia: Wave energy industry and leading research organizations.
  • Project Participants: Industry and researchers in MegaRoller.
  • General Interest: Media, universities, and organizations promoting marine energy.

By tailoring our communication to these groups, we ensured that the MegaRoller message was understood and valued by all relevant stakeholders. This was achieved through a blend of customized messages and strategic use of digital channels.

Hear it from the project lead

Working with Smidesang & Lyng has been a pleasure. It allowed me to focus on my own tasks, confident that the assignment was executed in the best possible way. They assisted us in communicating the results of the EU project MegaRoller to the consortium and the public. It was essential to reach a broad audience – something S&L achieved effectively with video content and targeted digital communication.

This collaboration has earned us high praise from our partners, from researchers, and from the EU Commission in their evaluation. It has also led to inquiries from both domestic and international parties seeking more information about our research.
